SIT Course Details

Offered through the School for International Training Graduate Institute and World Learning.
The SIT Graduate Institute offers a wide range of MA programs in teacher education and international development.

Dates and location
Our course is offered over 3 months from

February 17th - May 15th, 2010

*Note that the first weekend we have sessions on Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 20th and 21st)

Workshops on Saturdays (9am – 6pm) and teaching practice one evening (6:00pm – 9:30pm) during the week.

The course is held at Language Studies International in downtown Berkeley, just down the street from the BART station, making it convenient for the San Francisco Bay Area.

Tuition
$1990 including all materials and fees.

  • Early sign up ($100 off): $1890 for applicants who have been accepted on the course and paid a $500 deposit by Dec. 30th.
  • Regular sign up: $1990 for applicants who have been accepted onto the course and submitted their $500 deposit by Jan. 27th.
  • Late sign up: Applications processed after Jan. 27th will be accepted providing space is available and will require an additional $50 fee ($2040) to rush the application.

The application process

  1. Download the application above and complete the questions and the 500-word essay.
  2. Submit the application by email to: BerkeleyLTC@gmail.com
  3. Receive confirmation email from one of the trainers and schedule a telephone interview. The purpose of the interview is to make sure that the course is a good fit for you. The interview takes between 45 and 60 minutes.
  4. If accepted onto the course, you will receive a welcome letter via email with an enrollment agreement form.
  5. Fill out the enrollment agreement form, sign it, and mail it to us along with your deposit, to hold your space on the course. You may send the deposit later, but we cannot guarantee your spot on the course until we receive your deposit. You will also not be eligible for the discount until your deposit is received.

Possible funding for the course
Unfortunately, we are not able to accept Pell Grants or Teach for America credits. However, if you have lost your job or are unemployed you may qualify for the WIA (Workforce Investment Act). Our course has been approved by the State of California as an Employment Training Provider (ETPL).
